South Kensington Townhouse
London, UK
This Listed Grade II townhouse was built in 1840 and is situated in the Thurloe Estate and Smith’s Charity Conservation Area. The owners lived in the house for many years and decided to renovate the home before placing it on the market. What started as closing up an interior lightwell and expanding the kitchen quickly turned into a full-scale renovation.
The kitchen was completely reconfigured to feature a built-in dining area and a skylight was added to wash the room with light. The master bedroom suite also received an upgrade with the addition of a large dressing room featuring custom millwork and a bathroom lined with marble. The remaining bedroom floors were fitted with bespoke joinery and new bright and modern bathrooms. A central air system was also added, with new units concealed in dropped ceilings. The clients were so happy with the results that they chose to live in the house for an additional three years before selling the property to equally satisfied buyers.
