Upper East Side Penthouse
New York, NY
This pre-war penthouse pied-à-terre was in serious need of some TLC when our clients purchased it back in 2022. Numerous past renovations had stripped the home of its original character and subpar materials could be found throughout. Our clients’ brief was simple - give the space a Parisian feel with a gut renovation, while utilizing the full 780-square-foot space. Central air conditioning was also added, and the existing sunroom was reworked to serve as a dining room/home office/guest bedroom. While the layout of the apartment remained the same, small moves in plan and section allowed for a more gracious kitchen and bath, and a huge wall of bookcases with a concealed built in bar. Two terraces, spread over 1,000 square feet and a working fireplace add to the apartment’s unique charm. The clients can now work, entertain, and even hosts guests in this light-filled, airy home.
